"When should I come to Mendoza?" is the question we hear most. The honest answer: there is no bad month. There are months that fit different travelers.
Mendoza's climate is desert at altitude — clear skies most of the year, dry air, intense sun, cold nights. With over 300 sunny days per year, the question isn't whether the weather will cooperate, but what kind of experience you want.
Harvest season: February to April
This is our favorite season. The most alive Mendoza there is. Vineyards are in full grape, the air smells of fermentation, wineries are buzzing with the year's critical work, and you can sometimes participate in harvest yourself at boutique estates.
The first vendimia celebrations begin in late February with the National Wine Festival in Mendoza City. Through March and April, every winery operates at full intensity.
Weather: warm to hot days (28-32°C / 82-90°F), cool nights. Perfect for vineyard lunches outdoors.
Ideal for: travelers who want to feel Mendoza alive.
Spring: October to mid-December
The season of blooming vines and snow-capped Andes. October still has snow on the higher peaks; the vineyards are pushing their first leaves. November is electric — green vineyards, blue skies, perfect light. Photographers love this season.
Weather: mild days (20-25°C), cool evenings. Wineries less crowded than harvest.
Ideal for: photographers, travelers who prefer atmosphere over activity.
Winter: June to August
Mendoza's best-kept secret. Cold but crystalline. Empty wineries. The Andes wearing snow. Tastings happen in candle-lit cellars with fires lit. The quietest, most intimate season.
Weather: cold (max 10-15°C, min near 0°C), clear skies most days.
Ideal for: maximum intimacy, those combining Mendoza with skiing at Las Leñas.
The shoulder seasons: late December and May
Late December and May are the most underrated months. May in particular: vineyards in autumn red and gold, perfect tasting weather, no crowds whatsoever.
